Pino Trivellato dies - 2012-02-09T16:49:00Z- Racing News. Many of you younger folks probably do not know him, but earlier this week Jacopo Trivellato died at age of 76. He was a famous Fiat Abarth tuner in Italy, but he also founded his own F3 team and entered Chevron and March F3 cars. He was the man behind a lot of great Italian drivers!
NASCAR Hall of Fame losses are slowing - 2012-02-09T15:32:00Z- NASCAR. Attendance at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in December was 15,428 people, down only slightly from the 16,136 people who visited in December 2010. The December attendance was good news for the hall, which had seen attendance decline in some months by more than 30% compared with the same periods a year earlier. Hall spokesperson Kimberly Meesters said the week after Christmas is a strong period for the hall.

HPD adds Black Swan Racing - 2012-02-09T14:31:00Z- ALMS. The U.S.-based Black Swan Racing team has joined the roster of outfits running Honda Performance Development engines and chassis in the Le Mans Prototype classes in 2012. Black Swan is moving up to the LMP2 class in the American Le Mans Series after winning the GT Challenge-class championship for the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car for the past two seasons. It will run a former Level 5 Motorsports Lola B11/80 powered by HPD's twin-turbo V6 powerplant, driven by team owner Tim Pappas and regular teammate Jeroen Bleekemolen.
FIA urged to cancel Bahrain GP - 2012-02-09T12:04:00Z- Formula 1. Seven members of the UK House of Lords and a leading MP have called on the FIA to cancel this year's Bahrain Grand Prix. In a letter to The Times, Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Lord Ahmed of Rotherham, Lord Alton, Lord Avebury, Lord Hylton, Lord Boswell, Baroness Falkner of Margravine and Green Party leader Caroline Lucas collectively voiced their opposition to the island kingdom staging the race on April 22. Approaching the anniversary of the February 14 'Day of Rage' in Bahrain last year, when protesters took to the streets in a bid to oust the ruling government, the eight-strong group claims violence remains rife in the Gulf state and has called on world motor sport's governing body to act.

Michael Andretti to Compete on NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice" for Racing For Cancer - 2012-02-09T11:36:00Z- IndyCar. World-renowned racecar driver Michael Andretti is set to compete on behalf of Racing For Cancer as he joins the cast of NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice," premiering February 19. Andretti, son of racing legend Mario Andretti, has the third most victories (42) of any driver in IndyCar history, and he lead 6,702 IndyCar laps during his career. Currently, he is the Chairman, President and CEO of Andretti Autosport.

Parents Of NASCAR Official Killed - 2012-02-08T00:00:00Z- NASCAR. The parents of a NASCAR communications official have been killed in an apparent double homicide at their home in Ellerbe, N.C. Richmond County officials identified the dead as Edwin Arthur Richardson, 69, and his wife, Margaret, 69, of Ellerbe. Officials said the cause of death apparently was gunshots.
