1992 240sx overheating and electric fan not working.. - 2010-03-18T10:16:21-08:00- I've been throwing all kinds of parts at the car trying to fix the overheating problem and I've finally noticed that the auxilerry fan is not spinning.. I'm not sure what needs to be replaced but I know with it not spinning that is more than likely the problem with it. I've checked with most of the auto parts stores around here and they don't sell the fan motor.. my friend ganked a fan motor out of a nissan altima and tried to make it work, it worked for less than a day and now it's back to overheating again. Any advice on how to fix this withough having to pay the heavily inflated prices at a dealership

Is replacing halogen bulbs difficult - 2010-03-18T10:16:02-08:00- Since EX35 does not come with HID lamps standard, I figured I might put some GE Nighthawk or Silverstar halogens instead of the stock ones, for low beams. User manual states that for halogen replacement you should contact the service department, which I thought was excessive, it should be something I could easily do.When I opened the hood, I started to understand why they ask you to contact service for this. The chassis construction beams are running so close to the bulb mounts that it doesn't seem easy to do at all. Maybe I'm missing something here, is there some trick to replacing these, or do you have to pull out the whole front lights mount piece before you can access lamps

Nissan Leaf pricing - 2010-03-18T08:59:55-08:00- According to an article at http://gm-volt.com/2010/03/18/...44300/ the price for the Nissan Leaf will be between $38,600 and $44,300 before government rebates. I had previously heard from an inside source that the price would be around $29,000, but that may have been without the battery. Nissan has since announced they would not lease the battery separately from the car. So, if both of those reports are correct, the battery costs around $10,000 itself. In any case, we should know what the official pricing will be in a month or so.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news so you can go to the website and see for yourself. The deposit however is $100 and if they get enough they will order them in. If they don't get enough deposits they won't order them and refund all the deposits already made.
starting issues - 2010-03-18T07:42:05-08:00- when i go to start the car it always starts but, i used to just turn the key ,crank and turn right over and start all in one motion. now it seems that i have to hold the key longer and it cranks a couple seconds longer then starts. when this happens the car seems sputter a little like its not getting enough fuel. once it starts and i rev it , the idle is good and where it should be. it seems like this issue is getting a little worse over time. Could it be battery issueor even the starter its self

The Cooling Thread - 2010-03-18T10:30:36-08:00- *EDIT*We don't really have a thread dedicated to cooling and it came up in another discussion so I figured I'd split the thread so as to stay on topic etc.WD************************************************************Quote, originally posted by scotty-2-forty - A 16.8lb Nismo radiator capA higher pressure radiator cap doesn't increase cooling capacity unless a person is boiling the coolant with a standard cap (in which case pockets of vapor will reduce the contact area with the motor). If you are unable to keep your engine temp in the normal range (assuming everything is working as designed), then you likely need a radiator upgrade. Where I might concede is if the radiator is sufficient in size to bring the coolant temp near ambient but enough heat is generated such that the coolant simply can't carry enough heat out fast enough. Its a band-aid to a bigger problem either way, but short of going in and trying to redesigning cooling passages (impractical), its the only real option left to try and help prevent the fluid from boiling. However, this is an unlikely scenario for modern motors. Its more of a see if it happens and respond type of mod anyways. If one's cooling system is working fine with the standard cap, a higher pressure one will have zero benefit.EDIT: I just read over the list again and I'd probably throw BOV into the "required" sections. While BOV's aren't absolutely necessary to make it work, relatively few people are going to be investing in BB turbos that can handle the higher thrust loads associated with compressor surge. I'd rather they buy and install a BOV than be replacing or rebuilding turbos all the time.

Interior Measurments - 2010-03-18T05:54:23-08:00- I just bought a used Versa and I'm really looking forward to enjoying the car.I've been looking around the net for specs on interior measurements, but can't seem to find the exact info I'm looking for so I'm hoping someone on here will help me out.I am curious about the length of the hatch/storage with the seats down - I can only find a capacity measurement in cubic feet which really doesn't help. Thanks!
Best BMC match for full z32 swap brakes on an s14 - 2010-03-18T05:51:38-08:00- I have read a lot of posts after searching for this on a few other forums, I am not gettin any solid information. What BMC matches f/r z32 brakes on an s14; I have a BNIB 17/16 one sitting in the garage, but rather than waste the time of installing it; I wanted some opinions from people who have tried multiple BMC's with the z32 brakes not just the original and one other; thanks!Dave
WTB: ECU for 84-85 300zx turbo automatic - 2010-03-18T05:51:24-08:00- Part number listed on my ECU is A18-636-375 (5313)Thanks
Future Turbo Option - 2010-03-18T05:59:44-08:00- I'm someone that likes to plan ahead. I have an excel spreadsheet that I've been editing over the years to suit my needs of what I expect of the car and myself for that matter. I was always into the Garrett GT BB turbo's and trying to keep my setup as stock as possible. Now I'm trying to be more open minded and am looking at some T3/T4 turbos and setups and had a few questions. Power goals at the end for me are at 400whp. As of now, its "WHP dreams" but its only a stable job away for me. What can I do about a manifold I trust CXRacing so I was looking at their manifold, but I've heard stories of the "eBay type" top mounts breaking/cracking and what not due to the extra weight. Anybody running T3/T4 turbo with SSAC manifold Is it probably better if I had one built or tried to build my ownI'm looking into downpipe options, and I'm liking the V-Band sorta setups. I've already decided thats a job left to the exhaust shop. Now for the turbo. I did a bit of research on here last night and found that people really like the 50trims. I found these two Journal Bearing T3/T4, but not sure on some things.http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/me...e=TBN^^this first one comes with a 50trim compressor and i think i'd want to go with the Ford 5-Bolt for the .48 A/R turbine, then get an adapter to go to V-Band. http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/me...e=TBN^^this one is basically the same, except for a bigger turbine wheel () and this is only oil cooled, not water cooled. I'm not sure if the first turbo link is water cooled or not.Any input is great. I know i still have alot more research and have a very open mind on things. I just want to learn and expand my knowledge so I'm not set on one path.

Short gears are not good for turbo'd cars because turbo's operate better under load. BUT I don't want to have a car that feels like a dog because of the low gearing. Thanks you guys for the help!!

WALMART - Racial Incident - 2010-03-18T10:46:28-08:00- By BRUCE SHIPKOWSKI, Associated Press Writer Bruce Shipkowski, Associated Press Writer Thu Mar 18, 1:07 am ETWASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. A Walmart store announcement ordering black people to leave brought chagrin and apologies Wednesday from leaders of the company, which has built a fragile trust among minority communities.A male voice came over the public-address system Sunday evening at a store in Washington Township, in southern New Jersey, and calmly announced: "Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now."Shoppers in the store at the time said a manager quickly got on the public-address system and apologized for the remark. And while it was unclear whether a rogue patron or an employee was responsible for the comment, many customers expressed their anger to store management."I want to know why such statements are being made, because it flies in the face of what we teach our children about tolerance for all," said Sheila Ellington, who was in the store at the time with a friend. "If this was meant to be a prank, there's only one person laughing, and it's not either one of us."Ellington, of Monroe, and her friend Patricia Covington said they plan to boycott the retailer until they're assured the issue has been addressed so it doesn't happen again. The pair said they were stunned when they heard the announcement and initially believed they had misheard it. But once the words sank in, they grew angry."I depended on Walmart for all my needs, because the store has pretty much everything you could want," Covington said. "But until this issue is addressed in a way I'm comfortable with, I can't walk through those doors again."Officials with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., based in Bentonville, Ark., said that the announcement was "unacceptable" and that they're trying to determine who made it and how it happened."We are just as appalled by this incident as our customers," the company said in a statement. "Whoever did this is just wrong and acted in an inappropriate manner. Clearly, this is completely unacceptable to us and to our customers."This is not the first time the retailer has faced such problems. There have been several past instances of black customers claiming they were treated unfairly at Walmart stores, and the company faced lawsuits alleging that women were passed over in favor of men for pay raises and promotions. In February 2009, the retailer paid $17.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging racial discrimination in its hiring of truck drivers. And the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued the company in May 2009, claiming some Hispanic employees at a Sam's Club subsidiary in California were subjected to a hostile work environment. That suit alleges managers failed to stop repeated verbal harassment, including the use of derogatory words, against employees of Mexican descent. However, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has said the company has worked hard in recent years to show it cares about diversity.Bill Mitchell, a former Walmart employee who was shopping Wednesday at the store, said that he was saddened to hear about the announcement but that "as a black man, I've heard worse things."As customer Sharon Osbourne, of Williamstown, left the store Wednesday, she called the announcement "appalling, stupid and sad."Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_...mment
G35: VQ35 - Pump Gas Dyno - 2010-03-18T04:35:03-08:00- Mods:Plenum SpacerTest PipesHaltech Platinum ProEverything else is stockThis setup belongs to Robbie who brought us his G35 for custom Haltech tuning. The majority of the gains were from fuel, some from ignition and some from adjusting the cam angles. Blue is the stock ECU and it was running lean (flirting near the 15:1 a/f ratio) down low and some in the mid range. A highly likely possibility for the stock ECU running lean, especially down low is the plenum spacer. There is more air coming in but the stock ECU doesn't add more fuel to compensate. Basically, even though his motor could flow more air than before, he was loosing power because he was not tuned for the additional mods. There was also knock registering in the midrange on the stock map from the overly lean condition. It was not enough to be felt on the street but enough to be picked up in a controlled environment like on a dyno.In this particular tune, we not only tweaked the cam angles for WOT conditions but also for partial throttle conditions for better overall response. In case you are wondering, the other two runs are basically the final numbers. Usually I post a before and after but for whatever reason, I left an extra run in there.I mentioned to the customer that a nice set of long tube headers and a full exhaust will really wake this motor up. Also, being that Haltech can control cam angles, this setup stands to benefit from more aggressive cams. Usually on a VQ35, you don't stand to gain much if anything from more aggressive cams on a stock ECU. You would need a program such as Haltech that can control cam angles to take advantage of it.

2004 Sentra 1.8 - 2010-03-18T03:58:43-08:00- Car won't crank up right away. Feels like it will catch. This morning I opened the hood after no crank and checked everything. I for some reason opened the radiator cap. A bunch of fluid shot into the reservior and spewed from the cap as I twisted it off. I had this problem of not starting up for a while and no one at the dealership could figure it out. It is getting worse and this water pressure thing is new to me. I had a problem before with it shutting off and that was resolved with the crank case sensor. Any thoughts
Throwing codes, car staying on and I have no idea why. - 2010-03-18T01:58:56-08:00- Just got my SR to start up. Fresh swap from Phase2. I followed all of the wiring guides I could find and I'm 99% sure I did everything right.I thought I was just leaking boost, because I had a rough idle and couldn't really rev passed 2700. But when I checked for codes, I got 11 (CAS), 12 (MAF), 21 (Ignition Signal), 34 (knock sensor). I pulled the harness and I could swear everything is wired just fine. Also, my car is staying on when the key is out. Any ideas on that I noticed when I unplugged the ECU and was pulling the harness that everything was still on. How could that happen if the chassis harness was untouched throughout the entire swapMy brain is completely shot right now. I need to get my car running by the weekend to get me to school. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

255/40/19 or 245/40/19 - 2010-03-18T08:10:37-08:00- Hi guys, I am new to this forum. Thanks for all the helpful info and the participation. I just ordered a set of the Hankook V12 Evos for an 07 M35 Sport I just bought, but now I am wondering if I should change the order to the 255s. I ordered 245/40/19 which is the stock size. Would going to the 255 effect the tramlining problemAlso, has anyone tried 255/45/19 It seems that size might be an interesting ride. The main reason for my new tire order is to correct the tramlining problem that I am having with a brand new set of RS-A s. I just bought my M35 from a private dealer who did me a "favor" of putting these new tires on it. I figured he knew what he was doing and asked him to put his favorite tires on it for me since he said he has been driving M35s for many years. When I got the car, I was hoping it would drive like another I test drove which had new tires, but sadly enough, I found it scary to drive on the highway. Like another guy wrote here, I was doing the "white knuckle" behind the wheel. After about a week of driving on these RS-A s, I'm getting more used to them, but I can't see driving on these for a couple of years. Why spend so much on a car and be paranoid to go 80 on the highway My 96 Saab felt safer than this car.Like others, I went down to the Infiniti Dealer, the one in Santa Clara, CA, and they said that the RS-A s are great tires. The service guy claimed he's never heard of any tramlining problem caused by these tires. In fact, he told me that there are no tires that would correct the problem. He said that is just how the M35 drives.I know that is not true. Before I made my purchase, I drove several M35s and 4 of them did have this problem, but one did not. That car had new tires on it which the guys at Infiniti just told me were the Hankooks. So besides all the great reviews on this site and others about the Hankooks, I also drove on them when I was test driving, and it was the difference of night and day. The M35 with these RS-A tires feels like it has some serious steering problem, like the car was in an accident or something.Anyway, I was just wondering if the 245's will go straighter than the 255's. I prefer cars that go straight and ones that revert to straight on their own after a turn.Where I live we have tons of potholes on the highways. It seems like wider tires would run over those better, but I really don't want to have this tramlining problem at all. That is my main concern. And what about 255/45/19 Has anyone tried that size or would it rubThanks for any input!
Nissan Nuvu - Is The New LEAF Based On This - 2010-03-18T01:20:09-08:00- Nissan Nuvu is a concept designed to offer next generation car from Nissan with rear-mounted electric motor and lithium ion battery pack. The design of this concept car is quite unusual and small. For city use, the Nuvus performance is more than adequate. Across the all-glass roof are a dozen of small solar panels. Basically, natural, organic and recycled materials are used to make its cabin. The steering of the car is very direct for quickness and maneuverability in the city. No one will have any problem in crowded roads and limited parking slots with this tomorrows city car. NUVU: RESHAPING THE CITYWithin just a few years, cities all over the world will be at near bursting point. If mankind wants to retain the level of personal mobility it currently enjoys and if the city is to survive the only way forward is for a radical rethink of the type of cars driven there. One solution could be a car like Nuvu, designed for the city of the not-too-distant future.Nuvu is literally a new view at the future of the city car. It is electric, of course, but as far as Nissan is concerned, for tomorrows city cars that is a given. No, the most important aspect of Nuvu is the interior design which provides great comfort and space in an intelligent package designed to make best use of our crowded roads and limited parking slots.Franois Bancon, General Manager, Exploratory and Advance Planning Department, Product Strategy and Product Planning Division, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.At a glance- 2 +1 seating in compact 3m package- Unique platform for Nuvu- Zero emissions from EV drivetrain- Drivetrain previews production EV due soon- X-By-Wire control for all dynamic functions- Extensive use of natural, organic and recycled materials- An urban oasis complete with its own tree inside, which provides shade for the interior, and generates solar energy via its leavesOverviewThere is about to be a seismic shift in the urban landscape. Within the next five to seven years, some 55 percent of the worlds population will live in the city, threatening total gridlock. Unless something is done, the irony of the phrase personal mobility will be self-evident.Look around at the cars in a typical city traffic jam today and the vast majority will have only one occupant and four empty seats. Some might have two occupants, a few three. But find one with four occupants or more and youll be doing very well. Today, we buy a family car knowing that well only ever need to use it to its full potential one or perhaps two percent of the time. Tomorrow, things will be different. Tomorrow, things have to be different. There is a new generation coming up who, finally, are questioning why we do the things we do. They are asking themselves, for example, why they are buying a large car when they know that for 99 percent of the time they will be in it on their own, says Franois Bancon, General Manager, Exploratory and Advance Planning Department, Product Strategy and Product Planning Division, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.It is our job to provide personal transportation that is better suited to peoples needs and to what the environment in all senses can cope with.Nissans vision for the future of urban transportation is encapsulated in Nuvu, a new view of the type of car we will be driving in the middle of the next decade. Compact its just 3 metres long Nuvu is a concept vehicle with unique 2+1 seating. It is aimed at urban dwellers who dont want to compromise on their personal freedom or their comfort, yet who appreciate that something has to give. Nuvu is agile, easy to drive, even easier to park. And it is, of course, an electric vehicle (EV). As Bancon says: We believe zero emission vehicles are one of the key solutions for tomorrows city car.Nuvu is described as a moving oasis, a haven of green tranquillity in the urban jungle. To underline this message, Nuvu incorporates a witty representation of its green credentials: across its all-glass roof are a dozen or so small solar panels. Shaped like leaves on a branch, the power they generate is fed to the battery using a tree trunk within the car as a conduit. Nuvu also uses natural, organic and recycled materials within the cabin.Nissan has already announced plans to introduce an all-electric car in Japan and the US in 2010 and to mass-market it globally in 2012. Nuvu is not that car, though it does share some of the technology that will feature in the planned production vehicle. Rather, it is a concept of how a Nissan EV might look in the near future. In the longer term, Nissan foresees a future based around a line-up of zero emission vehicles regardless of their size, category and usage. Nuvu or its production equivalent is just one element of this emission-free future.Nuvu in detailThe central thrust behind the development of Nuvu is not its motive power but its layout and use of space. Nuvu has been created for a city of the future, one thats even more crowded than today.Thats why its compact on the outside yet roomy on the inside. Built on a unique platform, its just 3 metres long and sits on a wheelbase of 1980 mm but is 1700 mm wide and 1550 mm tall to create a large and airy cabin.Interior packageThese dimensions provide all the interior room needed for the vast majority of city journeys. Nuvu has two regular seats and a third occasional chair that can be folded down when required. But, unlike some two-seater city cars currently on the market, it is a thoroughly practical proposition with an integral luggage area providing sufficient space for a typical supermarket or shopping expedition. It is a real car, says Bancon. There would be no disadvantages to using a Nuvu everyday. For the vast majority of users, three seats are more than enough most of the time. The packaging is designed to give priority to driver comfort with C-segment levels of space and the flexibility to invite one or two passengers on board. Cabin layout places the regular passenger seat beside but largely behind the drivers seat, allowing the passenger to stretch right out. Ahead of this seat is a third occasional chair which, when not in use, is folded away into the dashboard assembly. But even when the third seat is in use, there remains sufficient legroom for both passengers. In the interests of saving both weight and space, the third seat has a centre section made from hardwearing yet comfortable netting. This hammock-like approach also has the benefit of allowing cool or warm air to circulate around the occupants body for extra comfort.Shopping bags, briefcases and smaller items of luggage can be stowed behind the drivers seat while if the driver is travelling solo, larger items can be stowed in the passenger footwall.City car researchWe did a great deal of research into how people use their cars in the city. We found that for 90 percent of the time, the driver was alone. For five percent of the time there was one passenger and for four percent of the time there were two passengers. You can do the math to find out how often four or more people were in the car! says Bancon. We gave the second seat much more room than normal because when you take one passenger in your car it is usually someone you love and you want to make sure he or she is being carried in outstanding comfort, he adds.Natural materialsMany of the materials used inside Nuvu reflect an increasing concern for the environment. The floor is made from wood fibres pressed into laminate sheets and is studded with rubber inserts made from recycled tyres for grip.To create a light and bright interior, the windscreen and roof merge into one extended panel running virtually the entire length of the car. But undoubtedly the most unusual feature of the interior is the energy tree which rises from the luggage compartment floor to the roof behind the drivers seat.Solar panelsThe energy tree is shaped like a thin trunk. As it reaches daylight it branches out under the glass roof providing occupants with protection from bright sunlight just like a real tree. And providing a visual reminder of Nuvus green credentials, covering the branches are dozens of small solar panels shaped like leaves. The panels absorb energy from the sun which is then fed back down the energy tree and used to help recharge the battery and provide an extra power boost for the electric motor. As well as being genuinely green energy, it is estimated that the power generated via the solar panels will save the equivalent of one full overnight charge from mains electricity each month. Driver controls are as simple as possible. All the major functions steering, braking, transmission and throttle are By-Wire while the steering is controlled by an aircraft-style steering yoke: with just one turn from lock to lock, the steering is very direct for agility and manoeuvrability in the city. Nuvus turning circle is just 3.7 metres. Thanks to its wide track and the use of 16 inch 165/55 tyres mounted on lightweight, almost transparent, wheels, ride comfort, stability and agility is of the highest order. There are two pedals for stop and go stalks for minor controls and a digital instrument panel with dials for speed, distance covered and battery range. The instrument panel itself is formed of layers rather like an onion and like the energy tree is another example of design inspired by nature. We call it bio-mimicry, says Bancon.Rear view/parking monitorTwo screens on the dashboard display the view behind the car there are no door mirrors to disturb the airflow, but small cameras and double as monitors for the Around View Camera which give a birds eye view of the car when manoeuvering or parking.Saving energy was the guiding force behind the use of low-energy LED head and tail lamps, while Nuvus heating and ventilation system filters and cleans the city air as it passes through the vehicle. Not only does it produce no emissions at source, but Nuvu actually helps clean up the city environment.Exterior and interior designNuvus design is further clear evidence of Nissans continued desire to challenge convention and to explore all the possibilities that the EV could bring us. In many ways it was inspired by our two most extreme EVs of recent times: Mixim and Pivo 2.Significantly, though, Nuvu delivers a more realistic interpretation of two of the most important aspects of its forerunners the Friendly Innovation found in Pivo 2 and the Sports Dynamics central to MiximThe result We have designed a radical concept car that with just a few changes could go into production tomorrow, explains Masato Inoue, Chief Designer, Product Design Department, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Developed by designers at Creative Box Inc. Nissans design think-tank Nuvus green house has flowing lines with gentle curves inspired by nature. The distinctive shape of the door glass on either side gives the impression of a hot air balloon thats being gently inflated by pressure from within, while tropical fish inspired the profile of the side window graphics as a whole. This contrast between the natural, fluid shape of the greenhouse and the strength implied by the solidity of the lower body gives Nuvu a feeling of quality rarely found in a compact car.Colour and materialsNuvus visual impact is further enhanced by its unique body colour. Developed by Nissan Design, the shade is officially called Soft Feel Sandy Gold. Matching the ecological values of an electric vehicle, the moulded plastics and synthetic elements found inside a typical production car have been replaced by natural materials and organic alternatives, such as the wood fibres and rubber from car tyres used for the flooring. The result helps create a relaxed, warm atmosphere within Nuvus cabin.During the design development stage, key targets were to develop an EV that encompassed obvious modernity with engaging ambience and a playful aspect hence the energy tree. You dont need to be a car lover to fall in love with Nuvu, adds Bancon.EV drivetrainNuvu is more than a styling concept of a future EV. It is a fully working mobile test bed for much of the technology that will be used in Nissans production EV to be launched in 2010. For this reason elements of its technical specification are being kept secret for the time being. The electric motor used in Nuvu is mounted at the rear of the vehicle and drives the back wheels, though neither its exact specification nor the power and torque figures are being released at this stage. A driving range of 125 kms and top speed of 120 km/h are being made public, however.Li-Ion batterySimilarly although it can be revealed that the batteries used are of the latest laminated lithium-ion type and have a capacity of 140 Wh/kg (watt-hours per kilogram), the total capacity of the batteries and number of modules are not being disclosed at this stage.Nissan began research into high output Li-Ion cells as long ago as 1992, but today development is carried out by Automotive Energy Supply Corp. (AESC), a joint venture company set up by Nissan and NEC Group.Unlike a conventional lithium-ion battery with its bulky cylindrical cells, the laminated Li-Ion battery as used in Nuvu has thin laminated cells and fewer components overall. This boosts its power by a factor of 1.5 at the same time as halving its physical size. It also remains twice as efficient as a conventional cylindrical Li-Ion battery even after five years or 100,000 kms of continuous usage. Another bonus of the compact cell construction is that a thin modular design is possible with a commensurate improvement in battery cooling efficiency. Higher power outputs are achieved through material improvements made to its lithium manganate positive electrode and carbon negative electrode. The use of chemically stable spinal-structured manganese for the positive electrode also helps ensure safe operation. Its compact size allows the batteries to be mounted under the seats and the vehicles flat floor, thus helping to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible.A quick charge from empty to full should take between 10 to 20 minutes while a full charge should take between three to four hours from a domestic 220V socket.Typical usersThe people who will be drawn to a car like Nuvu are many and varied, says Bancon. It is a cross generational car and not a signature vehicle for one generation. There will be common threads, however. They will be early adopters but more importantly they regard themselves as urban citizens. They dont just work or live in the city; they are part of the city. They want a car that somehow expresses who they are and which reflects their personal ideology.ConclusionAlthough clearly a concept vehicle exploring aspects of future vehicle design, Nuvu nevertheless embodies many messages for today. Its clever interior provides ample headroom, legroom and comfort for most everyday needs without occupying more road space than it needs. The use of recycled and natural materials underlines Nuvus environmental message and while the energy tree might be considered as a piece of whimsy, the use of solar energy is an entirely sensible and practical technological solution to aid an emission free future.Nuvu is a concept car, for sure, but it is an entirely credible vehicle, says Bancon. It is light, clean and easy to drive. It is practical and a sensible size, yet it is also embodies an element of fun: the future doesnt look so bad, after all. Designer : Nissan

Man...Legacy gaming is a PITA. - 2010-03-18T04:36:07-08:00- I recently ditched WinXP on my craptasticful Dell Latitude PIII 500 for a fresh Win98 install. The system's 4:3 monitor is the only non-widescreen monitor in my apartment, which means it's the only machine old games don't look stretched on.It has been a LONG time since I've run win98 on anything...and considering my memories of preferring it to XP, I've found both the OS and the hardware it's on to be quite a hassle these days. USB support is hit-and-miss software-wise and slow (1.1) hardware-wise. I am limited to a CDROM drive. The Dell has NO built-in networking. Not even a gigabit ethernet port. No wired, no wireless. And the old PCMCIA wireless-a dongle I have from Blitzz is useless as Blitzz appears to have died and taken all their driver downloads with them. I have two different USB network adapters but USB1.1 is too slow and drivers for the two don't support Win98.If I could just get network support on the machine I'd be doing a lot better. The new Battle.net allows you to enter your CD keys from your games and thenceforth download CD-free versions at any time...so I've got multiple licenses for Starcraft, DII, LoD all waiting to be downloaded. I also have the entire Half Life Platinum collection on Steam ready to be played CD-free, but I can't use Steam. Argh. And just about everyone has stopped even unofficial support for Win98 in their software. Adobe reader, openoffice (I know I have an OEM Office97 disc somewhere I can use instead), itunes/winamp (holy smeg I HATE WMP9!).So here are my questions for my fellow NICOnerds:1: Does anyone know of a good resource/listing/repository/whatever of old-version Win98 software I'd really like to get a media player and PDF reader for this machine.2: Does anyone happen to have an old PCMCIA wireless adapter laying around that they're not using Even if it's just 802.11a, that's better than nothing. Or, Hell, even a wired PCMCIA ethernet adapter would be nice. Just something to get me online just long enough to grab some steam/b.net downloads and the odd driver (rather than having to DL them on another machine and swap them over via USB drive).

Nissan to Build LEAF Electric Car in UK From 2013 - 2010-03-18T00:28:53-08:00- Source: http://www.google.com/hostedne...wJqrg Nissan to make electric cars in Britain from 2013(AFP) 2 hours agoTOKYO Nissan Motor will start building its Leaf electric car at its British plant from early 2013, the Japanese car maker said Thursday, saving more than 2,000 jobs. The factory in Sunderland, which will also manufacture the vehicle's lithium-ion batteries, will be the third earmarked to produce the zero-emission cars after plants in Oppama, Japan and the US state of Tennessee. The investment of more than 420 million pounds (468 million euros, 642 million dollars) will help maintain about 2,250 jobs at Nissan and across its British supply chain, the company said in a statement.Initial output will be about 50,000 vehicles a year from early 2013. The Leaf is due to go on sale worldwide this year with production beginning in Japan, while the US factory will start in 2012."The three production sites will support the sales launch of the model, which begins in late 2010 in Japan, the United States and selected European markets, ahead of global mass marketing from 2012," the company said.Nissan said construction of its battery plant at Sunderland will begin next month. With a capacity of 60,000 units a year, it will start making batteries in 2012 for both Nissan and its alliance partner Renault. The investment will be supported by a 20.7 million pound grant from the British government and a proposed finance package from the European Investment Bank of up to 220 million euros, it said.Andy Palmer, senior vice president at Nissan Motor, said: "The world is at the dawn of a new era in automotive transport.""Nissan Leaf, which will go on sale later this year, is a five-seater hatchback that offers the same space, practicality and performance of a similar car in its class -- minus the tailpipe emissions."Zero-emission cars are gaining traction as concern has grown over the pollution caused by conventional petrol cars.Mitsubishi Motors last year rolled out the i-MiEV, and Fuji Heavy the Subaru Plug-in Stella, both in Japan.Toyota, which has focused on hybrids, has promised to launch its own version by 2012 and started leasing a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle since late last year, one year earlier than initially planned.Shares in Nissan rose 0.77 percent to 780 yen by noon in Tokyo trade.
